Summary

The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences is delighted to offer a number of Deans Excellence scholarships worth £10,000 to international students joining one of our Postgraduate Taught Masters programmes in September 2026.

The scholarships will be awarded on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who demonstrate in their programme application, excellent academic performance (current and/or previously gained) and any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience.

All eligible international offer holders will automatically be considered for a scholarship, therefore no separate scholarship application is required.

We have application deadlines in place for international students. Please adhere to the relevant deadline when submitting an application for your course of interest.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open now for all international (non-EU) Postgraduate Taught Masters students joining eligible programmes within the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences in September 2026. Awards will be assessed on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who demonstrate in their programme application, excellent academic performance (current and/or previously gained) and any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience.

Important things to note

  • Separate applications are not necessary and you will be automatically considered based on your programme application and supporting documents.
  • To be considered for a scholarship an applicant must hold an offer to study a full-time attendance course in the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
  • Online, blended learning programmes, PG Diplomas, PG Certificates, PGDE and MSW Social Work programmes are not eligible for these scholarships.
  • To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in studies commencing in September 2026 and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria. Scholarships are non-transferable and will be forfeited if the recipient defers their admission to a later academic year or transfers to a different programme or Faculty after enrolment.
  • Scholarship recipients will be expected to engage with student ambassador activities during their course of study, such as supporting student recruitment activities and events.
  • The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences’ decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.
  • Available to self-funded applicants only.

Further information

To ensure international applicants are best supported to achieve successful outcomes, the University has fixed application deadlines for all Postgraduate Taught programmes beginning in September 2026.

There are two deadlines: one for applicants from countries where enhanced visa-readiness checks are advisable and one for applicants from all other countries.

The application deadlines are:

  • Friday 31 July 2026 for applicants from selected countries* where enhanced visa-readiness checks are advisable.
  • Friday 14 August 2026 for international applicants from all other countries.
     

*Friday 31 July 2026 deadline is for applicants from Bangladesh, Ghana, Nepal and Pakistan and applicants form the Indian states of Punjab, Gujarat and Haryana.
