Care Experience learners may be eligible to apply for a non-income assessed Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) Care Experienced Student Bursary.  This bursary is available to eligible undergraduate and PGDE full-time students with the maximum amount available in 2025/26 of £9,000.  There is also a £2,400 loan element available through SAAS, however this is a student loan and this would be repayable after graduation.   If you need help with accommodation costs during the summer you may also be able to claim the Care Experienced Accommodation Grant.  Further information can be found on the Student Awards Agency Scotland website.

The university is partnered with the McGlashan Trust, whom offer financial grants for postgraduate study and care experienced students are priority for any awards.  Applications are made directly through the university.  You can find more information on the McGlashan Trust website and contact us regarding the application process.

At Strathclyde, our care experience students are priority for the University Discretionary Fund and any other funding that becomes available. Further information can be found on our student finance office pages.
