Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS)

SAAS is the agency that awards tuition fees, loans, and bursaries to eligible Scottish students.

Tuition fees and bursaries are not paid back.

Your student loan is repaid from your salary when you start working and earn over a certain amount.

You must complete your SAAS application in full and it must be approved by SAAS before you will receive anything.

Tuition fees

Your tuition fees are paid directly to Strathclyde.

Student loan

Your student loan comes from the Student Loans Company (SLC), who will pay your Living Cost Loan directly to you.

Receiving your loan & bursary

You must complete online registration at Strathclyde before your loan will be paid.

Students from England

Student Finance England (SFE)

Student Finance England is the agency which awards loans for tuition fees and living costs to students from England. 

All loans must be repaid.

You must complete your SFE application in full and it must be approved by SFE before you'll receive anything.

Tuition fees loan

Your tuition fees are paid directly to Strathclyde.

Student loan

The Student Loans Company will pay your Living Cost Loan directly to you. 

Bursaries & scholarships

We have a few bursaries on offer for students from England:

You don’t need to make a separate application for these. When your place is confirmed at Strathclyde, we’ll assess your eligibility.

Receiving your loan

Both your fees and your loan will be paid as soon as you've registered as a student at the University and collected your student card.

Student Finance Wales (SFW) 

Student Finance Wales is the agency which awards grants and bursaries to students from Wales. 

Grants and bursaries do not have to be paid back.

Loans must be repaid.

Tuition fees

If you need help paying your tuition fees, you can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan and Tuition Fee Grant to pay these fees. 

Living costs

You can apply for a Welsh Government Learning Grant and a Maintenance Loan to help cover your living costs while you're at university. 

Bursaries & scholarships

Student Finance Northern Ireland (NI)

Student Finance NI is the agency that awards grants, bursaries, and loans for tuition fees and living costs to students from Northern Ireland. 

Grants and bursaries do not have to be paid back. Loans will have to be repaid.

Tuition fees

Student Finance NI will pay the tuition fees straight to Strathclyde.

Student loans

Your student loan will come from the Student Loans Company. They'll pay your Living Cost Loan directly to you. 

Bursaries & scholarships
