Podcast on innovation at Strathclyde

A new podcast series on innovation and technology at the University of Strathclyde has been launched.

Innovate Strathclyde explores current research and thinking at Strathclyde, with a particular focus on the transition towards a net zero economy and a more sustainable, resilient future.

Themes of the podcast include: renewables and the energy transition; sustainable development and circular economy; climate adaptation and resilience, and finance for green growth.

Innovate Strathclyde is produced in partnership with Planet Pod Productions. It is hosted by Dr Chris White, Head of Strathclyde’s Centre for Water, Environment, Sustainability & Public Health, and Planet Pod presenter Amanda Carpenter.

Dr White said: “Awareness is growing of the need to move towards a culture of net zero, sustainability and climate resilience; the urgency for these transitions is growing all the time.

“We have a vast range of initiatives at Strathclyde for working towards these goals. These are not only in research and innovation and informing policy, but also in our approach, as a university, to achieving sustainability.

“Innovate Strathclyde will examine our achievements and aims in this field, in the run-up to COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.”

The first episode of Innovate Strathclyde offers a preview of the series and introduce the essential role Scottish innovation and technology has in tackling climate change and supporting the transition to net zero. Guests on the podcast are Ragne Low, Head of Heat Planning at the Scottish Government, and Professor Keith Bell, ScottishPower Chair in Smart Grids at Strathclyde and a member of the Committee on Climate Change.
