The University of Strathclyde has been ranked second in Scotland for Overall Satisfaction in the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), reflecting significant year-on-year progress and continued excellence in its students' experience.

Strathclyde’s Overall Satisfaction score of 87% among taught students is 3.3 percentage points higher than in 2024 and 6.3 points above the average for Scotland.

This is Strathclyde’s highest satisfaction score in the three years since the NSS was revised – with the University climbing from fifth place in 2023 and third place in 2024 – and places it above the upper quartile for the seventh consecutive year.

Exceptional learning

Strathclyde’s performance in Overall Satisfaction exceeded the Office for Students benchmark by 5.3%, reinforcing the University’s commitment to delivering high-quality education, a great student experience and a supportive learning environment.

In addition to Overall Satisfaction, Strathclyde scored above the UK sector average across six of the seven NSS theme areas, including Teaching, Learning Resources and Academic Support. It also surpassed the Scottish sector in all seven themes as well as  for Overall Satisfaction for the second year running.

Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, said: “These results are a strong and clear endorsement of the exceptional learning and teaching environment we provide at Strathclyde.

We are proud that our students continue to express high levels of satisfaction with their experience, and we remain committed to supporting their academic and personal development at every stage of their journey with us.

The University of St Andrews had the highest Overall Satisfaction rate in Scotland.
