Working together to highlight our research partnerships to the public

Collaboration with businesses and organisations is a high priority for researchers from the University of Strathclyde.  Our focus on knowledge exchange and "useful learning" brings another dimension to our engagement activities.  We are always keen to discuss collaborative public engagement with our partners and invite you to read some of the short examples here and contact us if you'd like to explore an opportunity to showcase how we work together.

ERIC the Robot

ERIC - the Engaging Robotic Interactive Cell - is a multipurpose robotic outreach and demonstration cell designed to engage young people and businesses with the leading automation, robotic and sensing work being undertaken in the University.

ERIC is always a hit with the public and in partnership with KUKA, has featured at Explorathon for the last 3 years.

GlaxoSmithKline

GSK partners with the University of Strathclyde to provide continuing professional development for their staff.  The industrial PhD and MPhil students aim to better equip chemists with the skills to develop even greater scientific excellence.

To highlight this ongoing relationship, a GSK student joined researchers at Glasgow Science Centre to take part in Explorathon'16.

Innovation Centres

Explorathon'16 featured an "Innovation Avenue", an area within Glasgow Science Centre, which highlighted the Scottish Funding Council's Innovation Centres and their partner businesses and organisations.

The visitors could get their hands on the latest technologies from a range of sectors supported by Innovation Centres.
