Decisions on money, banking, interest rates, taxation and government spending affect us all, with global consequences. At the level of the individual consumer and producer, economics also helps us to understand what is meant by ‘rational’ economic behaviour.
Economics is a major subject in Strathclyde Business School. Together with the BA single and joint Honours, the Department offers the BA (Honours) in Economics, Maths & Statistics.
Strathclyde Economics graduates are successful in obtaining employment in a wide range of areas, including the Government, management, investment analysis, business systems analysis, stockbroking, auditing, production control, banking, health boards, the Tax Inspectorate, the BBC and other media outlets, research, and higher and further education.
Prospective employers are found in the public and private sectors, manufacturing and service industries, among UK companies and foreign-owned multinationals.
