Design, Manufacture & Engineering ManagementRegina Cseh: Choosing the University of Strathclyde

My first step was to look at the University of Strathclyde website, which allowed me to gain a better understanding of what the university might be like and what their courses had to offer.

It was great to see that on top of all the relevant information about the course content, entry requirements and fees/funding there placed a great emphasis on showcasing the student life, as well as the fact that they are an international educational institute.

Moreover, there are useful tips and information available online for before you arrive and while you are in Glasgow and at Strathclyde for both home and international students.

Another thing I found extremely useful was being able to read current and alumni students talking about their experiences and thoughts about Strathclyde. This made it more relatable and suggested that it will be a university that will “look after you” while you are away from home.

My entrance interview, where I also learned more about the course, didn’t only give the university a chance to see if I was a right fit for them but also helped me decide if this was the right course for me.

The central location of the campus was definitely an advantage – student accommodation, entertainment, culture and night life are all nearby.

The university’s great reputation and their notable alumni were also factors that convinced me to choose the University of Strathclyde.

Here's a photo of George Square, right in the centre of Glasgow and only a few minutes walk from the campus, lit up with festive lights for Christmas:
