About Us

The society was formed in 2018 by a group of PhD students who all study at the Wind & Marine Energy Systems & Structures CDT here at Strathclyde and who all share a passion for renewable energy. Growing on our successes from last year we are hoping to bring in new students and ideas from across the university - from different backgrounds, courses and years – to help us achieve a fully working Wind Powered Vehicle by August for the international race event in The Netherlands.

Most of the team is working within wind energy research and so this is a great place to learn and apply the engineering knowledge that you will gain at university. We are also keen to get non-engineers into the team looking at sponsorship deals and budgeting as well as social-media and publicising the team.

Mission Statement: Through the development of a wind powered vehicle StrathWind Racing will provide students with management experience, practical hands-on building, networking and professional development skills as well as offering collaboration with industry and other participating race teams. StrathWind Racing thrive on raising awareness of sustainability and the importance of renewable energy, we intend to educate and inspire. StrathWind Racing are proud to represent the University of Strathclyde at the Racing Aeolus event.
