Staff Profile
Dr Stephanie Ordonez-Sanchez
Chancellor's Fellow
I am a mechanical engineer born in Mexico and living in the UK since 2007. My line of research focuses on developing sustainable solutions to meet our growing energy demands by analysing; the performance and dynamic loading of marine energy converters; the sustainability of the offshore renewable energy sector and lately, by looking at decarbonisation of the transport industry. I am a member of the technical committees of the European Wave and Tidal Energy (EWTEC) and the Pan-American Marine Energy Conferences (PAMEC).
My work as a Chancellor’s Fellow within this Department of Mechanical & Aerospace (MAE) has allowed me to pursue a new line of research in a supporting environment whilst developing additional leadership skills and teaching/supervising research projects which support my research work. During my time as a Chancellor’s Fellow, I have also become an active member of the Homeward Bound community which is a leadership program for women working in STEAM and working towards tackling climate change. This supports my advocacy work for female engagement in STEMM areas, as I also support the work of the US-Mexico foundation project "Mujeres líderes en STEAM", as well as lead MAE’s Athena Swan Committee.
