This privacy notice explains how the University of Strathclyde will use your personal information and your rights under data protection legislation.

Who we are
The University of Strathclyde is the organisation responsible for your personal data in terms of data protection legislation (the controller).
Information we collect & use about you
We will collect your name, job title, organisation, email address and any other contact details you choose to provide when registering your interest.
Why we require this information & our lawful basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you provide when registering your interest in receiving communications from the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering.
This may include invitations to participate in careers fairs, recruitment events, guest lectures, networking activities, student projects and other relevant industry engagement opportunities.
You may withdraw your consent at any time. If you have any questions about this mailing list or wish to be removed from it, please contact naome@strath.ac.uk.
Disclosing your information
Your information will not be shared outside the University of Strathclyde unless required by law or where we are obliged to do so under applicable regulations.
Transferring data internationally
Your data will not be shared outside the United Kingdom, unless it is to a country covered by the UK ‘adequacy regulations’ (declaring the recipient country as a 'safe' territory for personal data) or by another safeguard, as set out in applicable data protection legislation.
How long your information is retained
We will retain your details until you withdraw your consent or ask to be removed from the mailing list, and in any event we will review the mailing list at least every three years.
Data is required as part of a statutory or contractual requirement or obligation
You will be advised of any statutory or contractual requirements or obligations as part of the booking process/event information.
Your rights
Under data protection legislation, you have a number of rights* including the right to:
- withdraw consent, at any time, where that is the lawful basis of our processing
- access your personal data and obtain a copy, free of charge
- rectify inaccuracies in personal data that we hold about you
- erasure, that is have your details removed from systems that we use to process your personal data
- restrict the processing in certain ways
- obtain a portable copy of data you have given to us in a commonly used electronic form
- object to certain processing of your personal data by us
*Please note that the ability to exercise these rights will vary and depend on the lawful basis under which the processing is being carried out.

Complaints
