University data

The Gender Equality Officer liaises with the Human Resources office and Strategy and Policy to obtain the necessary internal HR and student data for each academic department planning an Athena SWAN submission or monitoring their staff and student numbers by gender.

The data is available on the Athena SWAN Sharepoint site or by emailing the Gender Equality Officer at

Data for applications

The Gender Equality Officer can access benchmarking data for departments who are submitting Athena SWAN applications or monitoring their staff and student numbers by gender. The data is provided by HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) and intended to be used to benchmark student and staff ratios in specific subject areas against national averages.

A copy of the data can be obtained from the Gender Equality Officer by emailing
