Equipment owned and on Campus

All equipment (non-computing) held on campus that is owned by the University is also automatically covered under the University's Material Damage policy.

The University's Material Damage policy is subject to a £50,000 excess.

Equipment hired or loaned and on campus

All equipment hired by or loaned to the University can also be covered under the University's Material Damage policy.

Cover is automatic for items valued up to £100,000 thereafter advance notification should be provided to insurance-services@strath.ac.uk in order that cover can be arranged.

Equipment - transit cover

All equipment (excluding computer equipment) owned, hired by or loaned to the University being taken off campus can be covered under the University's Goods in Transit policy.

Items valued up to £60,000 are automatically covered thereafter advance notification should be provided to insurance-services@strath.ac.uk in order that cover can be arranged.

The University's Goods in Transit policy is subject to a £500 excess.

Transit claims

Claim forms are available from insurance-services@strath.ac.uk which should be completed and returned as soon as possible.

The following supporting documents should be included with the claim form:

  • crime reference number (where applicable)
  • copy of original invoice/order for stolen goods
  • quote/estimate for replacement
  • with copy invoice for replacement to follow

Please note cover for all University computing equipment is covered by a separate policy.
