New Appointments
Three new Medical Humanities Fellows joined the Department on the Wellcome Trust funded MHCUK project. They will be here at Strathclyde until July 2024, when they move to Shanghai University for the rest of the calendar year. Dr Luis Junqueira investigates the transnational history of psychical research in early twentieth-century China, particularly its impact on healthcare and religious experience. Dr Kaija Koovit researches the 19th and 20th century history of medicine and medical sciences, with a special interest in the development of surgery and surgical procedures. Dr Mia Chen Ma explores the increasing role of science fiction as a way of thinking about other fields, such as ecology, urbanism, and health in the contemporary Chinese context.
