Strathclyde Mediation Clinic serves as inspiration for a BBC drama, and is recognised for its community contribution
A BBC Radio 4 drama entitled “Mediation”, part of the Behind Closed Doors series, aired on 16 January 2020. This show was inspired by a visit to Strathclyde Mediation Clinic.
As reported by Scottish Legal News, Clare Glynn from Hopscotch Films visited the clinic at the University of Strathclyde in 2019, interviewing mediators and observing two mediations referred by Glasgow Sheriff Court, as preparation.
Strathclyde Mediation Clinic provides pro bono mediation in sheriff courts across west central Scotland, such as Glasgow, Paisley and Falkirk.
The clinic is well-established and its activities were mentioned in Scottish Mediation’s Expert Group report Bringing Mediation into the Mainstream in Civil Justice in Scotland, published in June 2019. Separately, the clinic was recently nominated in the “Community Contribution” category of the Scottish Legal Awards.
Congratulations to clinic director Charlie Irvine and all those involved with the initiative.
