LGBTQI+ at StrathclydeDiversifying the University Archives

The University Archives and Special Collections is seeking material from former staff and students at Strathclyde and its predecessor institutions.*

We are particularly keen to collect and preserve the following items:

  • Photographs
  • Lecture and laboratory notes
  • Course handbooks
  • Class yearbooks
  • Student and staff club and society memorabilia
  • Student magazines
  • Graduation memorabilia
  • Research papers

If you have any of these or other materials from your time at Strathclyde or one of its antecedent institutions and would be interested in donating them for permanent preservation in the Archives, the University Archives and Special Collections team would be delighted to hear from you!

As part of this, we wish to collect and preserve the diverse histories of Strathclyde and its staff and students.

We are currently doing specific work on lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex histories at Strathclyde and we are seeking to expand the Archive collections in this area. You can read about our work on diversifying the Archives collections in the University Archives and Special Collections blog, including posts on LGBT+ History in the Archives and Crowdsourcing LGBT+ History at Strathclyde.

Save the date for our upcoming event exploring the past, present and futures of LGBT+ people at Strathclyde taking place as part of the University's Diamond Jubilee year celebrations. The event will take place on Wednesday 20 November 2024 at our city centre campus (livestream available).

*Strathclyde's predecessor institutions include:

  • The Royal Technical College
  • The Royal College of Science and Technology
  • The Scottish College of Commerce
  • Jordanhill College of Education
