Currently, to allow remote access to your desktop:

1. Your University PC needs to be pre-configured to permit remote connections.
2. You will need to know the IP address of your University PC.
3. You must install our Virtual Private Network (VPN) software on your home computer.

Step 1: Configure your University PC to permit remote connections

1. Navigate to the Control Panel
2. Select 'System'
3. Select 'Remote Settings'
4. Select 'Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)'

Step 2: Install VPN software on the computer you wish to connect from (i.e. your home computer)

Step 3: Open 'Remote Desktop Connection' on the computer you wish to connect from

1. Go to Start
2. Select 'All Programs'
3. Select 'Accessories'
4. Select 'Remote Desktop Connection'
5. Enter the IP address of the device you want to connect to in the 'Computer' field
6. Enter your DS username and password. You may need to enter 'ds' before your username
