Digital maps

British Geological Survey (BGS) maps portal

The BGS maps portal covers the period 1832–2014.

This site includes all the maps and sections that were produced in hand-coloured form. The focus is chiefly the 1:63 360 scale maps of England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland and the horizontal/vertical sections.

Digimap

Access to the electronic Ordnance Survey Map and Data Collection service, Digimap, is available to staff and students of the University.

National Library of Scotland

The National Library of Scotland's Map Images provides 48,000 zoomable maps mainly covering Scotland between 1560 and 1961.

Atlases

We keep our atlases on Level 5 of the Library. Large atlases are in atlases cases, and smaller atlases are on shelves. Please ask at the enquiry point if you need help finding the atlases.

Sheet maps

We keep sheet maps in map cabinets in Archives & Special Collections on Level 5. You can't borrow sheet maps but can study them in the Library.
