AFRC director joins ADMS industry leadership group

The Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) is proud to announce that Michael Ward, technical director at AFRC, is now a member of Scotland’s Aerospace Defence and Marine and Security (ADMS) Industry Leadership Group.

This leadership group was established with a view to bringing Scotland’s aerospace, defence and marine industry leaders together to share their experience and insight in order to set an ambitious five-year growth plan entitled Industrial Strategy for Scotland 2016.

The main purpose of this plan is to develop Scotland’s supply chain and retain a greater share of revenue north of the border.

In this strategy, key goals and actions are set to achieve real-term growth for the ADMS sector of between six and ten per cent by 2020.

According to Scottish Enterprise, achieving sector growth on this scale could deliver significant economic benefits, including up to £500 million in additional revenue per year, up to 3,000 new or replacement jobs and substantial carbon dioxide reductions from disruptive new technologies.

Michael Ward said:

I am confident that the aerospace, defence and marine sectors have strong opportunities for growth. Through membership of ADMS, we can make a difference to the industry both in Scotland and internationally. Scottish companies need to maintain their competitive advantage as well as developing and manufacturing high quality and innovative technologies. These priorities are also at the essence of what we do here at the AFRC."
