FutureForge is a new state of the art manufacturing facility launching soon at the AFRC, featuring the world’s largest research dedicated hot forging platform.
Perfectly sized for ground-breaking research that is transferable to industry, it provides a fully connected digital environment that will help accelerate a greener and more resource efficient future for forging.
Fostering collaboration with the global forging supply chain, it will help deliver R&D aiming to solve some of the industry's biggest challenges including:
- High environmental impact
- Materials waste
- Limited predictability
- Ageing high capital equipment
Crucially, it will provide a safe space to explore and test new materials and processes away from the pressure of the production line.

- Hot forging platform including bespoke tri-modal industry demonstrator
- Two furnaces - one gas fired and one electric
- Bespoke manipulator
- Fully connected digital environment
