ResearchResearch Fellowships

Develop your research at the University of Strathclyde: Research Fellowships

Research Fellowships offer you the opportunity to undertake a challenging programme of research and an ambitious programme of research and leadership training. Fellowships offer accelerated personal and career development to help you become a leader in your chosen field.

Is a Research Fellowship for you?

There are various research fellowship opportunities available from a range of external funders (for example UKRI, RAEng, Leverhulme) across different career stages:

  • for post-doctoral researchers to establish their research independence
  • for early career researchers transitioning into leadership positions
  • for more established researchers to enable them to take on a sector-leading role

A fellowship enables dedicated research time and resources to help you focus on completing a programme of original research and professional development.

Applying for an externally funded fellowship as an external applicant

If you are not currently a staff member at the University of Strathclyde and are interested in undertaking your prospective fellowship with Strathclyde as your host institution, or in bringing your current fellowship to Strathclyde, we'd be happy to hear from you.

Please contact the Head of Department you would like to be based within or contact the University’s Fellowships Executive who would be happy to advise on opportunities and internal processes.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

In keeping with the University’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, we encourage applications from all sections of the academic community who meet the eligibility criteria for funding opportunities. This includes applicants with diverse backgrounds, career paths, thought and approach as well as protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010.

Applications are particularly encouraged from persistently under-represented groups; those who wish to work part-time/flexible hours in order to combine the funding opportunity with personal responsibilities; and those with varied career paths, including those returning from a career break or following time in other roles. For more information on how the University implements our commitment to equality and diversity, please see our Equality & Diversity webpages.
