Strathclyde Global Talent Programme is appointing new, early career academic researchers in areas of strategic priority within all of our faculties.
The scheme will help us advance our status as a leading international technological university and continue to push the boundaries of innovation.
Accelerated promotion track
Fellowships will be for a period of five years - normally at Lecturer level - with the expectation that you'll have met the criteria for promotion to Senior Lecturer (or above) during the five years.
Fellows who meet the promotion criteria by the end of the five years, and who continue to show a strategic fit with their research interests, will be transferred to an academic appointment at an appropriate level.
If a candidate has an established track record in research leadership, we may make an appointment at Senior Lecturer level. The expectation in that case is that the criteria for promotion to Reader will be met during the five-year Fellowship.
What professional opportunities do the Fellowships give me?
Our Fellowships offer you the opportunity to grow your research portfolio.
Your aim is to establish a balance of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and citizenship responsibilities. Through your work you'll show leadership qualities that support your long-term academic career.
How will I be supported during my Fellowship?
You'll have a reduced teaching load and limited administrative duties for an initial period, with an appropriate range of duties as the fellowship progresses.
At the start of the fellowship, you’ll undertake the duties set out in the Chancellor's Fellow Job Description.
More duties and responsibilities will be added over the five years of the Fellowship. These closely mirror the standard job descriptions for the roles of Lecturer Job Description and Senior Lecturer/Reader Job Description.
You will receive support through mentoring and peer networks. You'll also be supported by the University’s academic career development framework to gain feedback on your performance, meet your training needs and improve your effectiveness.
Am I eligible to apply?
- you must have a PhD and have postdoctoral research experience
- you should have an emerging publication track record in high quality academic journals
- your research interests should align with the identified areas of strategic priority within our faculties
We encourage applications from candidates:
- who already hold external fellowships
- have strong alignment to our focus
- are able to transfer their existing fellowship to Strathclyde
