The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research cluster is dedicated to advancing educational research and scholarship in teaching and learning, with a strong emphasis on teaching innovation, inclusivity, and curriculum development.
The key strands of activity within the SoTL research cluster are:
- module, programme, and curriculum development
- collaborative learning, including group work, peer assessment, and the development of student agency
- opportunities and challenges of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), and their impact on students (learning, critical thinking, creativity, engagement), lecturers (teaching methods, assessment) and graduates/engineering professionals
- Integrating experiential learning through integrating real-world problems, case studies and mini-projects within modules
- mechanisms for widening access and fostering equity in higher education
- online teaching and learning
- transnational education
The SoTL cluster offers a space where teaching and academic staff co-create frameworks that respond to emerging educational needs. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), the cluster addresses targets related to inclusive and equitable access, lifelong learning, and the development of resilient, future-ready graduates.
