The main aim of SAFEMODE project is to develop a novel human risk-informed design (HURID) framework in order to identify, collect and assess data for Human Factors. HURID will enable the risk-based design of transport systems and operations, in the aviation and maritime sectors.
The HURID will help designers and operators address the following questions:
- what went wrong before with this type of system? And how often?
- what are the key human performance drivers with this type of situation?
- what is considered best practice in those areas?
- what are the tools or models I need to apply?
SAFEMODE will achieve the aforementioned aim by following specific objectives:
- create a Safety Human Incident & Error Learning Database (SHIELD) for the maritime and aviation sector
- create tools and methodologies for assuring human performance
- create HURID, a human risk-informed design framework to support human factors analysis in design and operations
- customise HURID to the specific characteristics of both domains
- exploit project results by supporting regulatory framework developments in the industry
