Our aim is to coordinate, support, appraise and maintain the effectiveness of the organisation’s occupational health, safety and wellbeing management system. To acheive this aim, our team employs several experienced advisers, who are able to offer advice on a variety of topics.

Latest News & Information

Information relating to health and safety throughout the University can be found below;

  • An alert has been circulated by the HSE regarding the production of gauze mats for use with Bunsen burners that may potentially contain asbestos. All departments should check their labs for these pieces of equipment, and if they are found, they are not to be handled and contact is to be made with OHSaW immediately.   • There has been a recent incident in the James Weir building involving a battery undergoing charging. OHSaW has issued a safety alert to all Heads of departments in the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science. For interest, the alert can be found here -  HSAlert - Battery Charging
