Strathclyde-GSKSCI Scholarship Win

We are delighted to announce that Marina Economidou (Industrial PhD Student, Cohort 10) has been awarded a Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) scholarship of £5,000 over two years to support her PhD.  Through this award Marina will benefit from publishing opportunities, access to a high-calibre network to help launch her career, and opportunities to present her work and raise his profile within the scientific community.

This is an outstanding achievement, given there are only up to 3 of these Scholarships awarded each year. Moreover, applications are invited from across the scientific and engineering spectrum: from industrial biotechnology to food science, chemical engineering to horticulture, environmental sciences to polymers, and drug discovery to cement science.

SCI Scholarships are prestigious and well respected by the industry. The SCI Scholars Fund was established in 1920 by the requests of Rudolph Messel and John Gray, both former presidents and founding members of the SCI.

Impressively, this is the sixth consecutive year that one of our students has secured one of these awards: Emma Grant, Holly Bonfield, Arron Aatkar, Joe Anderson & Caity Fawcett.

Huge congratulations to Marina and many thanks also to Marina's academic and industrial supervisors, Dr Dave Lindsay (Strathclyde) and Dr Nisha Thirumalai (GSK).
