Our Alumni

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics was formed in 2009 with the merger of the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Statistics and Modelling Science, which were in turn formed when the original Department of Mathematics was split in two in 1989.

Over the years we have gone from a small Department which took in just three students in 1964 to a Department that plays a central role in the Faculty and University where, every year, we take in well over 150 new maths & stats students and with our staff teaching over 2500 students around the University.

Our thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate alumni have developed successful careers around the worlds in a wide range of employment sectors.

As a former student of Strathclyde, you are automatically a member of the University’s global alumni community. As an alumnus or alumna of Strathclyde, you can access a range of benefits and support, including international networking opportunities, global events and support with contacting former classmates or organising a reunion. In addition, by keeping your contact details up to date, we will provide you with regular news updates and will invite you to events happening in your local area. To find out more, visit the Alumni & Development webpages.

We are developing new ways for alumni to get involved:

  • Helping current students – share your professional expertise with current students.
  • Student projects – your company may be interested in suggesting projects for final-year undergraduate, MSc or PhD students.
  • Professional advice and further training – we offer a consultancy and continued professional development service which gives access to our experts in mathematical and statistical modelling.

If any of these ways of being involved interest you we would like to hear from you. Just email us your contact details and we will get in touch.
