Pickleball for Wellbeing

Strathclyde Sport's Pickleball for Wellbeing

Running initially from the 22nd of September - 2nd of December academic year 2026/27.

Pickleball for Wellbeing is an adaptive approach to the game that offers participants a fun, games-based experience. It reduces any barriers for participation because it is facilitated using a humanistic approach that ensures smiles matter more than scores. It can be delivered as seated, standing, and low-impact, gentle-paced activity. It eliminates difficult overhead shots and emphasizes wellbeing by providing a safe way for newcomers of all abilities, people with health conditions or recovering from injuries, and older adults, to get active with enjoyable paddle and ball games that improve coordination, balance and stability.

Sessions will be run by Sandra Macrae. Sandra is a qualified Pickleball Scotland Club Coach who focuses on promoting the inclusive and accessible aspects of the game. She has developed the Pickleball for Wellbeing concept which offers people of all ability levels opportunities to get more physically active and socially connected in their local communities through a cooperative pickleball format.
