Summary

With generous funding from the Data Lab and The Scottish Funding Council, we have 2 scholarships towards tuition fees for the MSc Financial Technology 2024 entry (full-time only).

Applications are open to Scottish/EU new students only (please see eligibility for further information).

Each scholarship will cover the full Home tuition fee. The application deadline is 30th June 2024.

Eligibility

In order to be considered for a DataLab Scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Only students who have right to live and work in the UK, AND whose ordinary place of residence has been in Scotland for at least three years (not in full-time education) can apply for The Data Lab MSc scholarships. EU citizens who have not received pre-settlement status are no longer eligible to apply. For more guidance on eligibility please refer to: http://www.saas.gov.uk/_forms/residence.pdf
  • Minimum second-class Honours degree, or overseas equivalent in accounting, economics, business studies or a subject area with a strong quantitative component. The programme requires no prior knowledge of finance.
  • Final year undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
  • All students in receipt of a scholarship must successfully complete an online MOOC in Data Ethics, AI and Responsible Innovation as part of their studies.
  • Attendance at Data Lab Events expected.
  • Students will be required to attend introductory sessions in Mid-September.
  • Applicants must have an offer of a place on the programme. 

The MOOC is a new requirement imposed by The Data Lab as a condition of scholarship. It is hosted by the University of Edinburgh and will take 2-3 hours per week, over a period of five weeks.

Please note

Please be advised that this scholarship is administered by Data Lab. If you are successful in your application then some information will be shared with Data Lab. This is a condition of scholarship. Your contact details i.e. name and University email address will be provided by the University to Data Lab, for the purposes of administering the MSc course. The ESF Participant Form which you must complete advises that your data will be used by the University for ‘reporting and monitoring purposes and shared with relevant agencies.’ The ‘relevant agencies’ in this instance are Data Lab and the Scottish Funding Council.

Please also note that the number of available scholarships may change when DataLab receive confirmation from the Scottish Funding Council.

How to apply

Candidates should submit a 300 word essay detailing their interest in the growing area of Fintech, and reasons for applying for this scholarship. 

Students who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited by our SBS Admissions team to complete a Data Lab MSc scholarship application form to ensure quality, diversion and inclusion standards are met in awarding these scholarships.
