You should look through the departments within our webpages to locate a potential supervisor. Then you can reach out to them to ask if they would be willing to have you with them.

If you are planning to come to the UK for less than 6 months, you may not require a visa and should check using the ‘Check if I need a visa’ tool.

If someone is an EU national and coming to undertake a period of research within a department for 2-6 months (not salary involved), they can come through the study route and are classified as ERASMUS research students.

Following Brexit, if someone is coming to do a placement that involves training, visiting external agencies, or anything work-related, they would require a Tier 5 visa. This visa needs to be organized through their home University, and sponsorship needs to be provided by the British Council. Please note that we do not process these kinds of internships, and it will need to go through HR.
