"I was studying landscape architecture in Croatia then I decided that I wanted to work on a smaller scale and move on to masterplans - it's a good combination. In Croatia, I didn't have the opportunity to change course for my master degree, so I found my degree at Strathclyde and packed my things!"
"On reflection, my experience in Japan was simply invaluable and unforgettable. I would encourage anyone, especially PhD students, to apply for similar opportunities. I have learnt that feelings of fear and apprehension can be good indicators that you are about to do something new, exciting and worthwhile to expand your comfort zone, so go for it."
I wanted to help and do something worthwhile. I’m really passionate about geography and think it’s a really relevant subject. Topics such as climate change are always featured on the news.

Universities are such great environments for thinking, and I have always loved learning and challenging myself intellectually. My time in my undergraduate degree was very fulfilling, and after being out of it for two years I really missed it. I still have so much to learn, so why stop now!

This brings in a whole host of people from other services and faculties who have expertise in different areas who you get the chance to work with and build great working relationships with."

I have come to learn and explore new and interesting urban concepts, and this was quite exciting for me. However, the most exciting part is the opportunity to present a novel idea, of linking slums and city prosperity in an intervention agenda for slum and city improvement.
"I've completed a Mental Health First Aid certificate, had the opportunity to sit on a review panel for a department within Strathclyde, lived and studied in another country… Also, having a ‘student’ status opens up a number of opportunities for volunteering."
"What amazed me about STEMAspire is that it really is all about you. You get to design the programme yourself, tailor it around the skills you want to develop and choose what you want to work on over the year."

"I was a bit nervous about the Scottish accent at first but I haven’t found it a problem at Strathclyde. Perhaps this is because the University has a lot of international students. I haven’t had any problems, and staff always say ‘stop us if you don’t understand anything.'"
