Whilst ship recycling in places such as Indonesia (pictured) may be considered environmentally beneficial in a wide context, it actually has significant negative impacts to worker health and the local environment. Health and environmental safeguards are often viewed as costly to profit, however, working with Newtonfund – British Council and RISTEKDIKTI,we are developing an integrated framework to enhance both safety and productivity in the industry, whilst also benefitting the environment.
