Regular inspections of structures such as buildings, bridges and dams are vital to ensuring their longevity; however, current human-led approaches are inconsistent and put people at risk. We are studying how robotics and lighting can be used to improve both the safety and accuracy of inspections, helping the construction industry adapt to modern methods of identifying defects. Ensuring structures are maintained proactively reducing the need for new, carbon-emitting construction projects.
