Depression and suicide are high in autistic people, who feel stigmatised and discounted. Our project explores how engaging with a neurodivergent artist during emotion-focused creative workshops helps autistic adults to narrate their unheard trauma stories. The image depicts the ‘ugliness’ (ravens) created by the pain of interpersonal encounters, whose burden (stones) is relieved by the cat (Creating Autistic Trauma Stories), which collects and reimagines the trauma, promoting rejuvenation and healing.
