Mitochondria (red) are present in every cell and power our daily activities. Beyond energy production, they regulate blood vessel contraction and dilation by managing calcium (green) in vascular cells. When compromised, they contribute to cardiovascular diseases like hypertension. At SIPBS, we use high-resolution microscopy to study mitochondrial functions and deepen our understanding of their role in cardiovascular health.
