This research investigates the occurrence of contemporary slavery in a Brazilian quilombola community and their actions of resisting to it. While men suffer exploitation at work, women are on the front lines fighting for social emancipation. The photo shows that in circle, the women organise their fight. This research aims to emphasize the importance of including popular knowledge and local initiatives as good practices in anti-slavery struggles.
