Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s first spinout – connecting young people in Glasgow with jobs and opportunities

5 November 2025

yattle, an app designed in collaboration with over 100 young people, aims to transform how people at the start of their career journey engage with job opportunities across Glasgow.

yattle was developed by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Glasgow City Council’s Glasgow Futures, in direct response to concerns raised by Glasgow Chamber members and the Glasgow Employment and Skills Board (GESB) about the increasing difficulty of engaging young people through traditional recruitment methods.

The University of Strathclyde were inspired by the activity undertaken in the Scottish Government’s Spinout Pipeline project and supported yattle by introducing them to Challenges Group, who accessed legal advice for launch. This demonstrates the strong societal and economic benefits that come through collaboration and sharing of TTO/legal/IP resource and expertise, even outside educational institutions.

In collaboration with Loopsio, a start-up from the University of Glasgow, yattle was built by early talent in software engineering and digital design. Guided and mentored by industry professionals, young people were actively involved in every aspect of the app’s creation and delivery.

Built to give young people aged 16 to 29 more control over their search for employment, yattle is a new solution that removes the need for traditional CVs, replaces them with simple, skill-based profiles and give employers the opportunity to reach over 30,000 young people across the Glasgow City Region as they begin their career journey.

Powered by innovative matching technology, users will be connected with jobs, apprenticeships, and volunteering roles in a way that is more accessible than traditional job hunting. The app is designed to speak to the next generation as features include “day in the life” videos, user-friendly language, and an interactive live feed.

We wish yattle every success with this exciting venture and look forward to highlighting their achievement at the Scottish Spinout Summit in February 2026. The Summit will bring new investors into Scotland for a day of pitches from spinout Founders across Scotland’s Universities.
