Student projects

Industrial engagement is a central part of our teaching practice. All senior undergraduate and postgraduate taught students in the Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management undertake an Industrial Group Project (IGP), which helps them develop and apply their engineering skills within the real world.

These can be an ideal mechanism for you as a business to gain an appreciation of what the department can do for you. Our students also undertake individual projects, which are used to demonstrate knowledge of specific course curriculum and we also encourage our students to take summer internships relevant to their degree, through our Summer placement scheme.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are partly government-funded long-term collaborations between businesses and universities. DMEM have a long track record of success with the KTP initiative and have helped businesses across the UK to develop and improve.
