Your thesis should be submitted no earlier than two months prior to the end of your Maximum Duration of Study.

Please liaise directly with your academic department and Supervisory Team to agree your submission date.

Please complete an Extension to Maximum form and submit this to your Supervisor for approval, before submitting to Student Business for Vice Dean approval.

No. As thesis submission is now handled on the Research Degree Examination SharePoint the Thesis Submission Form is no longer required and will not be accepted by Student Business.

You will not have access to submit your thesis for examination on SharePoint until your Examination Committee has been approved by the Vice Dean. Please await an email from Student Business requesting you upload your thesis before attempting to submit online.

The PGR Management System is on SharePoint. You should log in using your DS Username and Password. If you experience any access issues, please consult the Thesis Submission information and further FAQs. If you have exhausted these and still cannot access this, please contact Information Services, IS Enquiries.

In line with the Policy and Code of Practice for Postgraduate Research Study (pdf), you are required to submit one electronic thesis through the PGR Management System on SharePoint. Should a member of your Committee request a physical copy of this, you will be required to submit a physical copy to Student Business.

No, you will not receive a confirmation email when your thesis has been uploaded to SharePoint. You will receive a confirmation email when your upload has been approved by your Supervisor. Please do not submit multiple copies of your thesis as this can delay the examination process. Please contact Student Business,studentbusiness-pg@strath.ac.uk, if you experience any problems with this.

Physical copies are only required if requested by a member of your Committee. All requests for physical copies should come through Student Business. Please do not submit physical copies of your thesis for examination unless Student Business have emailed you with a request to do so. Any copies submitted at the counter without proof of an email request from Student Business will not be accepted.

Viva arrangements are made within your academic department. Please contact your PGR Departmental Administrator for more information on the arrangements for your Viva examination. HASS students should contact the HASS Graduate School.

No. Please await an email from Student Business before attempting to upload your final thesis.

No. Your department are required to confirm your corrections to Student Business by email. Provided Student Business have all the required information; your award is then sent to the Vice Dean for approval. You will only be able to obtain an award letter when your award has been approved by the Vice Dean and processed by Student Business.

Award approval is at the discretion of the Vice Dean. Student Business cannot confirm how long this will take. However, awards are reviewed and approved by the Vice Dean on a regular basis.

Student Business will usually process your award 2 to 3 days after your award has been approved by the Vice Dean. Processing times may vary depending on business needs.

You will be required to resubmit your amended thesis on SharePoint on or before the date on the Examiner’s Report Form. The cost of resubmission is £70 and an invoice will be raised after submission.

No. You can only upload a single document to SharePoint. If you have a tracked changes document or any further documentation to fulfil the requirements of your resubmission, please either include this with the thesis file, or send a PDF copy of this to Student Business (studentbusiness-pg@strath.ac.uk). We can then send this to your Committee on your behalf.

Academic staff members will require two External Examiners. The fee for submission for staff members is £130 (for the degree of Master) or £155 (for the degree of Doctor).

In line with the Policy and Code of Practice for Postgraduate Research Study (pdf) you are required to submit one electronic copy of your final thesis.

Please do not submit your electronic or hardbound copy of your final thesis before Student Business has confirmed your award has been approved by the Vice Dean. You will receive this confirmation by email and this will contain information on how to upload your final thesis.

If you have received an email confirmation from Student Business, please submit your electronic thesis via SharePoint. This is the same process as submitting your thesis for examination, but please submit under ‘Final Thesis’ thesis type.

A DLA is required for all final thesis submissions. This is not required for thesis for examination submissions. The DLA should be completed and submitted on SharePoint.

The DLA will only be available to you on SharePoint after your award has been approved by the Vice Dean. Please do not attempt to access this before you receive formal confirmation of your award. If your award has been approved and you are still having difficulty accessing this please contact Student Business at studentbusiness-pg@strath.ac.uk.

Your award letter will be available on Pegasus when your award has been processed by Student Business. You cannot receive official confirmation of your award until your award has been approved by the Vice Dean and processed by Student Business.

You will receive your certificate after you have graduated. If graduating in person, you will receive your certificate at your graduation ceremony. If graduating in absentia, your certificate will be posted by standard post to your registered home address 2 – 4 weeks after all graduation ceremonies have taken place. If you would like to collect your certificate, rather than receiving it in the post, please contact graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk.

In order to be eligible to graduate your award must be approved by the Vice Dean and processed by Student Business. Deadline for award approval will change for every graduation ceremony. Please contact Student Business, studentbusiness-pg@strath.ac.uk, to confirm this approval deadline.
