Beth Lawton the University's Chief Digital and Information Officer is the University Aurora Champion.
The Aurora Champion is the lynchpin linking participants, role models and mentors, and leading their institution's engagement with Aurora.
About Aurora
The Aurora programme run by Advance HE. is for women, up to senior lecturer level or the professional services equivalent, working in a university, college or related organisation who would like to develop and explore issues relating to leadership roles and responsibilities.
Aurora seeks to support women and their institutions to fulfil their leadership potential through thought-provoking activities, collaborative problem-solving activities and motivating stories supported by inspirational women role models. Participation embeds strong networks of early career women across the sector to share best practice, insights and experiences.
The University provides annual funding and support for female staff to participate in Aurora, Advance HE’s women’s leadership development programme, since 2013, over 145 women have been supported through the programme.
The Aurora programme typically runs from September to May and we will be inviting applications again in Summer 2025 for the 2025/2026 cohort.

Aurora Women’s Leadership Development Initiative 2024-2025
Applications are invited for Aurora, the women’s leadership development initiative from Advance HE.
The programme runs as a unique partnership bringing together leadership experts and higher education institutions to take positive action to address the under-representation of women in leadership positions in the sector.
Aurora seeks to support women and their institutions to fulfil their leadership potential through thought-provoking activities, collaborative problem-solving activities and motivating stories supported by inspirational women role models. Participation embeds strong networks of early career women across the sector to share best practice, insights and experiences.
The Scotland sessions of Aurora begin online in September and more information on the programme is available on the Advance HE website. A limited number of centrally-funded places are available for women in Grades 7-9 including professional services, operational and technical, academic, research, KE and teaching roles.

To apply, download the Aurora Criteria 2024-2025, and complete the Aurora Application 2024-2025. Please submit your application by email to equality@strath.ac.uk by 5pm on Tuesday 20 August 2024.
