Postgraduate researchResearcher development

Professional and personal development is a fundamental part of the postgraduate researcher at Strathclyde. From learning about protocols in managing research data in the open access world, to becoming a leader of a project or group, we support our students to find opportunities to learn and develop the skills to achieve their ambitions.

Research training, as part of the PhD award, provides core research skills. Researcher development creates opportunities for researchers to develop skills which can help them to meet their future career aspirations.

PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development

The PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development is a formal credit-bearing academic award that most PhD students at Strathclyde are required to complete. The award recognises and rewards the wide array of skills and experiences that postgraduate research students achieve during their PhD research.

Researcher Development Programme

The Researcher Development Programme comprises over 80 different workshops, courses, events, and online resources to support our postgraduate researchers in their continued personal and professional development

The programme covers a breadth of areas and is designed to help researchers enhance their generic skills, behavioural attributes, and competencies for future employability both inside and outside of academia.
