Our People
My ambition is to contribute to advancements in healthcare by working in biomedical research or clinical diagnostics, where I can apply my knowledge to improve patient outcomes. My time at Strathclyde has been invaluable in preparing me for these goals.
Osarugue Favour Odigie, MSc Industrial Biotechnology
The 10-week placement at GSK was huge for me. I learned how to run fermentation processes at scale, work within GMP regulations, and handle the kind of documentation that actually matters in industry.
Miriam Laura Fernandes, MSc Quantitative Finance
When joining Strathclyde, I had only one goal - to get a job in portfolio management. But, as I went through the MSc Quantitative Finance, my horizons broadened. I am now considering being a quant analyst!
Aidan campbell, MPhys Physics
During my studies, I appreciated that the course structure allowed some specialisation towards my interests, where I chose to focus on solid state physics and more lab work focused modules.
Jonathan Sneddon, BSc Hons Mathematics with Teaching
Throughout my time at Strathclyde, I developed great people skills, where I was able to make great relationships with other students and through the great opportunities that the University provided, I was able to use these skills in practice for my future.
Muhammad Umar Akhlaq, MSc Cyber Security
My course prepared me by giving me both technical depth and critical thinking skills. Strathclyde didn’t just teach theory; it emphasised real-world scenarios, research, ethical considerations, and teamwork. Assignments, presentations, and group projects mirrored industry expectations.
Since graduating, I have been actively developing my own personal projects, including mobile applications and websites. In addition, I work as a Full Stack Software Engineer for a major banking firm in Glasgow, where I contribute to cutting-edge artificial intelligence projects that have gained recognition across the organisation globally.
Ruby Wong, MChem Forensic and Analytical Chemistry
The multi-cultural environment at Strathclyde allowed me to meet people from a variety of countries, and through meeting people of various backgrounds, this has given me the opportunity to broaden my horizons.
Evie Nichol, BSc Hons Biomedical Science
After I graduate, I’m hoping to secure a role as a trainee Biomedical Scientist in order to build a portfolio and eventually become HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist. This has been my goal since starting university, but the lectures we received this year from NHS staff have made me certain that this is the field I want to go into.
Niamh Rosina Murray, BSc Mathematics
I know the people I met at Strathclyde will always be very important to me, as well as the University, and I will always be proud to say I am a graduate from the University of Strathclyde
Kawther Bosakhar, MPharm Pharmacy
I am grateful for the enriching experiences and opportunities that studying at Strathclyde has provided me. The University's vibrant and supportive environment, highlighted by its active student union, has been instrumental in my personal and professional development.
Tana Bonner, MPhys Physics with Advanced Research
After I get my master’s degree, I am planning to get a PhD in quantum mechanics or theoretical physics; eventually going into research.
Rana Muhammad Sobaan, MSc Advanced Computer Science with Data Science
I am particularly impressed by the comprehensive nature of my course, providing in-depth theoretical knowledge, emphasizing practical applications, and ensuring that I am well-equipped with both academic understanding and real-world skills upon graduation.
Madeline Smith, MSc Forensic Science
I think Strathclyde has provided me an excellent foundation and introduction to forensic science techniques and procedures. They have provided many of the tools that I hope to later call upon in my career.
Aaman Sayyed, MSc Advanced Pharmacology
My favourite thing about Glasgow is the city’s unique blend of history, culture, and warmth. There’s always something happening, from music festivals to art exhibitions, and the people here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially to international students.
The best part of my job is the problem solving. In an ideal world nothing would go wrong with the car, but when we have potential issues, working with the team to work out how to fix it is really satisfying.
Hussam Asswat, MSc Applied Physics
Living in Glasgow has been amazing. My favourite thing is the sense of community and the friendliness of the people, which makes it easy to feel at home.
Vansh Maheshwari, MSc Applied Statistics in Health Sciences (on campus)
My long-term goal is to work as a public health data analyst in the UK or internationally, contributing to evidence-based policy and health system improvement. The MSc at Strathclyde has provided me with the statistical grounding and practical experience needed to step confidently into these roles, particularly within the NHS or academic settings.
Araceli Venegas-Gomez, PhD Physics
My long term ambition is to help build a strong, inclusive quantum workforce and to bridge the gap between research, industry, and society. The experience at Strathclyde—conducting research, supervising students, and engaging in outreach—gave me both the technical credibility and the confidence to found QURECA and work internationally in quantum education and workforce development.
This masters specifically expands on my existing skillset, building on a computational chemistry workshop from my undergraduate degree which briefly introduced me to the topic. Now I have much more hands-on experience with different software and high-performance computing.
