Dr Brian Patton the winner of the Tom Gibson Award
Congratulations to Brian Patton from the Department of Physics who is the winner of the biennial Tom Gibson Award. The award is made to recognise the outstanding achievement of a young researcher and Brian was nominated by a previous winner, Gail McConnell.

The Tom Gibson Memorial Award
The award recognizes the outstanding accomplishment and/or outstanding potential of young medics/scientists below the age of 40, who are employed by, or associated with, the Universities of Strathclyde or Glasgow. It was established to commemorate Professor Tom Gibson, a pioneer of plastic surgery and bioengineering. Prof. Gibson was one of the co-founders of Strathclyde’s Bioengineering Unit (BME today).
