Getting In

main content

If you're thinking of applying to study at the University, or have already applied, we have some information you might like to read. The University is committed to Widening Access and supporting students from a broad range of backgrounds.

We have a range of tailored services to ensure you get the support you need to get off to a good start and to enable you to progress successfully on your course. By clicking the links below you can access information related to:

As well as the tailored information provided via the links above, remember to check out the subject-specific information - including the entry requirements - of the course (s) you are interested in. A good place to start is with the University's course search. If you have never been to university before, then the filter you should use on the course search is the one labelled 'undergraduate'.

Undergraduate courses are specifically designed for people who do not yet have a degree, and you can apply for these courses via UCAS. If you are still at school and wondering which subjects you should study to keep you on track to be able to apply for your desired degree programme, read the Subject Guidance for the Senior Phase leaflet which our Recruitment and International Office compiled.

The University takes a range of information into consideration when making admissions decisions for undergraduate courses. If you meet certain criteria, you may be eligible for a contextual offer. To find out more about our usage of contextual data in admissions, please see our information on contextual data at Strathclyde.

Science

Are you interested in Science? Our STEM Summer School provides a pathway to anyone coming from schools who may have missed the entry requirements in maths, chemistry or physics. If you attend the Summer School you will be able to obtain the grade you need to enter into the course of interest. Priority is given to those of you who come from schools in the FOCUS West programme, as well as care leavers and those where attendance at Summer School is a condition of your UCAS offer.

Any S6 student attending a FOCUS West school is entitled to participate in Summer School. S5 pupils may also be accepted depending on capacity. Applicants to the University of Strathclyde who are resident in MD20 or MD40 postcode areas according to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) may also be considered.

There are very good reasons to sign up to our STEM Summer School but don't take our word for it. Listen to what our students have to say after attending the 2016 Summer School:
