Postgraduate courses

The Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or MSc in Genealogical Studies is for anyone with an existing interest and some experience in genealogy and related subjects. It has been developed by academics and genealogy professionals to provide a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of genealogical research, family history, records, archives and heraldry. You may wish to study the field in more detail or use it in your career.

If you already have some experience in genealogy, and are interested in finding out more about the course, please download the FAQ’s in the ‘Related Content’ box on the right-hand side of this page.

Strathclyde’s genealogy program helped me to become an academically rigorous, creative, and humane practitioner.  Because of my work in the program, I feel that I not only clearly defined a set of research interests and passions, but also the skills and sensitivity necessary to pursue related projects with a high standard of professionalism.
Claire Esker, MSc Genealogical Studies.
