Lockdown Learning Showcase - created by Dr Val Bissland

We haven't been able to host the CLL Annual Art Exhibition this year, however we are delighted to be able to share students' creative masterpieces in a slightly different format for all to enjoy! As always, the standard has been exceptionally high with student photography, short stories, drawings and paintings arriving in the CLL email 'inbox' during the past few weeks.

CLL tutor Val Bissland was our in-house expert film maker and photographer as well as running classes covering an array of topics including photography, memory, positivity plus so much more (the photo above of bluebells in Maines Plantation, by Val).

As many of you may be aware, it is with great sadness that we share the news of Val's passing after a short illness on the 25th May.

Val will be greatly missed by everyone in the Centre - staff, fellow tutors and her loyal cohort of students who attended many of her hugely popular classes over the years. Val also led online training to ensure our tutors had the skills and expertise to deliver their classes using Zoom whilst maintaining a steady stream of positivity and wisdom via the CLL Facebook page.

It is thanks to Val's creativity and expertise behind the lens that we are able to share a collation of students' 'Lockdown Learning' in the short film below which we have dedicated to Val, whose positivity, creativity and knowledge we will all miss!

We also received a selection of short stories from our Creative Writing students which can be viewed here.

We hope to be able to bring back the Annual Art Exhibition and re-introduce the Wallace Creative Writing Prize in 2022, but in the meantime we hope you enjoy a more 'virtual' representation of the talent and creativity of the CLL students.
