All new and continuing students must register online each session. Online registration is now open and should be completed prior to your programme start date.
Understanding your registration status
The student registration statuses detailed below describe the various stages of your student journey and the paths this can take.
Registered
- You are a fully registered student at the University of Strathclyde.
Valid to register
- You are eligible to register for the new session once online registration opens.
Failed to Register
- You have not completed online registration in time for the start date of your programme.
- If your registration status is failed to register, you will not have full access to university systems.
Voluntary Withdrawal
- You have requested to leave your programme of study prior to completion.
Compulsory Withdrawal
- You have been required by the university to leave your programme of study prior to completion.
Completed
- You have finished your programme of study.

Late arrival
September 2024 entry
As teaching for our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught programmes begins on Monday, 23 September, we strongly encourage all students to arrive as soon as possible. Please note that you must complete your registration before starting your programme studies
However, to support the travel plans for some of our international students our latest possible start date is Monday 28 October 2024, excluding the list of programmes that are detailed below that have an earlier deadline date of Monday 11 October. If you plan to arrive after 11 October, please contact your Faculty to make them aware of your arrangements. Please note, that the 'last possible start date' is the latest date that you can start attending your programme.
As soon as you arrive in the UK and complete the registration process you will have access to your programme materials. Please ensure you allow adequate time to arrive and register in advance of the latest possible start date.

Free & discounted travel
Travelling by bus?
If you travel by bus make sure you get your FREE bus travel card. Every 5 to 21-year-old living in Scotland for more than 6 months of the year can travel for free by bus from 31 Jan 2022 if they have a valid National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC).
You do not need a student card to get one as long as you meet the eligibility requirements. Visit the Transport Scotland website for information on how to apply.
Travelling by train?
If you travel by train apply for your 16-25 Railcard for one third off rail fares. Visit 16 to 25 railcard for information and how to apply online.
You do not need a student card to get one so apply now.
