Keeping you safe is our top priority. Here are a few of the ways we're doing that:
Strathclyde SOS
We've partnered with Pick Protection to launch Strathclyde SOS. It's a free personal alarm protection service, delivered through your smartphone - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - and is tailored for our university community.
The personal alarm has 3 support functions:
- Pre-Alert
- Time at Risk
These help you stay connected with Campus Security if you're working alone for example, or undertaking an activity of increased risk.
- SOS Alarm
Get home safe
Strath Union is partnered with Glasgow Taxis to make sure that you can get home safely any time of day or night even if you don't have immediate access to cash or a card. All you need is your Strathclyde student card and you can pay later, so make sure you have your student card with you at all times.
Here's how it works:
To use this scheme you must have access to your student card either physically or via the Strathclyde app. If you don't have this available, you won't be able to access the scheme.
The scheme is available for journeys up to the value of £30 only.
To arrange a taxi:

Phone Glasgow Taxis on 0141 429 7070. Tell them you're a Strathclyde student and you want to use the Safe Home Scheme. Please phone to arrange rather than picking up a taxi from a taxi rank or hailing a cab on the street to make sure it's a Glasgow Taxis car and driver sent to you.

The operator will take your details (name, phone number, destination, and pick-up location, and confirm that you have your student card - either the physical card or virtual one via the Strath app). They'll text you a link so you can track your taxi and see how close it is.

Upon pick up, you will need to show the driver your student card so they can confirm your details.
The Union will be in touch with you after your journey so that you can arrange to pay for it.
Strath Union Advice Hub
Strath Union’s Advice Hub team is always available for anything you need. You can chat with them confidentially about any issues you might have and they'll listen to you with care and respect.
You'll find them on Level 1 of the Union, based in the Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell Wing of the Learning and Teaching Building. They are fully accessible.
