ExamsResults FAQs
A Board of Examiners usually includes a Board Convenor (a senior academic from your Faculty), teaching staff from your programme, and an External Examiner from another institution.
An exam board is a committee that approves results, reviews student performance, and decides whether students can progress to the next year of study or receive an award.
After exam and assessment results are marked, they remain unapproved until confirmed and approved by an exam board. You will be unable to view unapproved marks during the main exam board period.
If you are awarded a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree, you must enrol for graduation to receive your certificate. This is required even if you do not plan to attend the graduation ceremony.
If your award is a Postgraduate Diploma, you may choose to attend either the March or November graduation ceremony. If you do not attend, your award will be conferred and your certificate sent to you automatically.
For all other awards, you do not need to enrol for Graduation. Your award will be conferred, and your certificate will be sent to you.
Please make sure your personal details are up to date in Pegasus.
If you’ve been approved to progress, you should complete online registration for the next academic year when it opens in August. Log in to Pegasus to register.
If you have passed Year 3 of the BA Honours in Business or BA Honours Humanities & Social Sciences, you must first complete Honours Validation before you can access online registration.
If you are in academic suspension, you are not required to attend classes. However, you are eligible to sit examinations or assessments for your outstanding modules at the next available opportunity.
You must complete online registration via Pegasus. Your outstanding modules will be added to your student record, and a one‑off registration fee of £75 applies for academic suspension.
UK students may be eligible to apply for Registration with Attendance, which allows you to attend a reduced number of modules (credits) during the academic year. Further information on Registration with Attendance is available on the University website.
It may be that you have not met the academic requirements to qualify for your intended award or to progress to the next stage of your programme.
In the first instance, contact your academic department to discuss your results and the options available to you.
Where there are appropriate grounds, you may wish to request a review of the decision by submitting an appeal.
While the outcome of an appeal is pending, you are not permitted to graduate.
