Whether you are brand new to learning at CLL, or if you have taken a class with us recently, please read on for all the information you will need. Note that this guidance is revised in line with any changes to our processes and therefore may have been updated since your last class.

Risk Assessment for on-campus class attendance
You will access your Zoom class(es) via MyCLL (the same system you use to browse and book classes). All your CLL bookings, Zoom class access and any associated class resources are located here.

To take part you will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with an internet connection. A webcam will allow you to see all your fellow students at one time. Headphones/earbuds are also recommended for Zoom classes, but not essential.
Our classes are delivered live via Zoom. The classes are not recorded. Please see the 'Useful Resources' section to watch a short tutorial on 'Getting started with Zoom'.
You do NOT need to sign up to a Zoom account, the University has invested in this as the means of online delivery and as such is the owner of the access to Zoom. Access to the Zoom lessons will be automatic. You need only download the free Zoom app.
We have created Zoom guides to get you started. Please download the appropriate version for whichever device you intend to use for your class:

For those who are brand new to Zoom and online learning we offer short training sessions, on request. At these sessions, you will have the chance to test your home equipment is working before the class starts and receive some basic training from a CLL member of staff on the key functions you will use. These sessions may be one-to-one or in small groups. Please contact us to request this training and we will arrange a suitable time.

You will use our online learning portal ‘CPD@Myplace’. Here you will be able to see all the class information, as well as the Zoom link to join the live classes.

We are offering our long-standing, credit-bearing, online Genealogy and Creative Writing (Blaze) classes via Myplace, the University's virtual learning environment. This is a user-friendly platform and all you need is access to a computer, tablet or laptop with an internet connection. These classes provide lessons using downloadable learning materials and are designed as an immersive learning experience where students can interact with each other if they choose. There is regular tutor input via online forums and 'live chats'.
